This case study describes the collaboration between Glengormley Int PS and Glennan PS and is titled ‘We Fly Kites’.

The DVD clip describes the partnership work between the two schools during the last few years and in particular during the 2013/14 school year.

The principals, teachers and pupils describe the process of building relationships and their shared learning journey together.

The shared work was with Primary 7 pupils from both schools.  The project was based on a World Around Us topic of ‘Land, Sea and Air’ and also included some PDMU work on identity, flags and symbols.

The benefits include being able to provide greater opportunities for the children, developing the existing curriculum and the rich learning experiences with another school. The shared work is clearly identified as a priority in the School Development Plans of both schools and the curriculum activities are firmly embedded into the curriculum planning and are never seen as a bolt on.

The children describe how they have kept in contact with each other after the shared curriculum work ended.

The project clearly demonstrated a positive shared learning experience for all involved.
